2025 Earth Day Art Project
In honor of Earth Day (Tuesday, April 22, 2025), Metro's Art in Transit Program invited K-6 students from Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia to submit 2-D artwork that highlight the vital role Metro plays in promoting clean air while fostering creativity and community engagement.
The three selected artworks representing each jurisdiction were displayed at Metro's three office locations in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Digital animations of the artworks are displayed on the screens at six Metro stations - Crystal City, Farragut North, NoMa-Gallaudet U, Gallery Place - Chinatown, L'Enfant Plaza, and Metro Center.
Earth Day Bus Wraps
In honor of Earth Day, K-6 students from Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia were invited to submit 2-D artworks celebrating the role played by public transportation in creating a more sustainable environment.
Three Earth Day designed buses representing each jurisdiction were wrapped in original artworks created by 15 local budding artists.
