Crystal City Entrance Construction: Spring 2026 Weekend Closures

Highlights

  • Trains will not operate between Pentagon City and National Airport for ten impacted weekends in spring 2026. For three of those weekends, trains will not operate between Pentagon City and Braddock Rd.
    • Crystal City station will be closed for all ten impacted weekends.
    • In addition, National Airport and Potomac Yard stations will also be closed for three of those impacted weekends for existing track maintenance.
  • Free shuttle buses will replace trains between Pentagon City and National Airport stations, with shuttles extending to service Braddock Rd for the three weekends that National Airport and Potomac Yard stations are also closed.

Beginning the weekend of Feb. 14, 2026, Metro will close Crystal City station during certain weekends through June 2026. The closures are necessary for passenger and crew safety during construction of a second entrance at Crystal City in collaboration with Arlington County. The second entrance is expected to open in spring 2027 and will improve accessibility, transfers, and rider distribution. For more information about the new entrance, please visit Arlington County’s project page.

Additionally during these closures, important maintenance will be performed on existing track infrastructure in the area, leading to National Airport and Potomac Yard stations to be closed across three of the impacted weekends.
