West Hyattsville Station Escalator Modernization

On August 17, 2025, Metro began modernizing the escalators at the West Hyattsville Station. The work will take approximately ten months to complete, and one escalator will be out of service at a time.

This project will improve escalator reliability by replacing and upgrading all major components, controls, motors, and safety devices. This rehabilitation is part of Metro’s regular escalator maintenance program.

Customer Impacts

  • One escalator will be replaced at a time.
  • All adjacent escalators will remain open.
  • For your safety, stay clear of the construction zone and follow all posted signs.
