What We Offer

Pay

We offer a starting salary of $74,505 for entry-level police officer positions. Applicants with prior law enforcement will be offered a starting salary that is commensurate with their years of experience to a maximum of five years. The maximum starting salary is currently $91,906. Applicants with military, corrections and higher education may also qualify for higher entry level salaries not to exceed $91,906.

Qualifications

  • United States citizen at least 20 years, 6 months of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Successful completion of the physical agility test
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor
  • Military veterans must have an honorable discharge
  • No recent drug use

If you meet the minimum requirements, you will undergo a thorough background investigation which includes references; driving, credit, employment and criminal history; oral board interview; truth verification test; psychological evaluation; and a medical exam.

Training

  • 1,492 hours of academic and performance-based training at entry level and 10 additional weeks of field training prior to being assigned to individual patrol
  • Recertification training as required by law, as well as additional professional training in areas that are job-specific and mission-oriented
  • Programs include, but are not limited to: anti-terrorism, bicycle, explosive detection, canine, explosive ordinance disposal, special response team, civil disturbance, crime scene search and motorcycle
